Dale Edwin Oakes

OAKES, DALE - DALE EDWIN OAKES, saw his wife Lorene was getting tired and he himself decided to let her rest, so in his 80th year on Tuesday November 24, 2015 at Bluewater health Dale passed away. He was loved by his wife Lorene (Preece) Oakes and children; daughters Debra (Glynne) Jones, Dawn (Gord) Gark of Sarnia and Danita (Jim) Gallagher of Hamilton and son David (Heather) Oakes of Sparwood, British Columbia, grandchildren; Sara (Mathew) Jones Murray of Sarnia, Michelle Oakes of Sparwood, British Columbia, Kyle (Jess) Oakes of Kimberly, British Columba, William, Rebecca and Robert Gark of Sarnia and great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Hayley of Sarnia, Lucas and Colby of Sparwood, British Columbia and Bree and Alister of Kimberly, British Columbia. He is also survived by brother Floyd (Connie) Oakes of Sarnia, sister-in law Norma Oakes of Windsor Ontario, brother Merritt (Donna) Oakes of Chesterfield Michigan. He was predeceased by his parents: Mother Elva (Perry) Oakes (1988) of Sarnia and Father Garnet Oakes (1973) of Windsor. Dale retired with 29 years of service with Inter City/TST trucking companies. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Naval Association, Sarnia Branch, Loyal Order of the Moose, Sarnia Lodge #1046 and the Point Edward Ex-Serviceman’s Club. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Friday November 27, 2015 between the hours of 7:00 – 9:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at the D.J. Robb Funeral Home & Cremation Centre (102 Victoria St.) on Saturday November 28th at 1:00 pm. Visitation will begin prior to the service at 12:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers sympathy may be expressed through donations to the #44-Sarnia Imperial Squadron Royal Canadian Air Cadets, or Ontario Moose Association and earmarked Child Find.
