It is with sadness the family announces the passing of Dale Buchanan Cunningham, age 71 of Petrolia, at Bluewater Health on Sunday, April 23, 2023. He leaves behind his wife Renée of 43 years; his children Kevin (Ellie) of Calgary and Michelle of Sarnia. Dale was the proud Papa of Aiden and Arianna, Liam and Keagan.
Predeceased by his parents Eric (1986) and Betty-Jean (2000), Dale is survived by his brother Rob (Liz) of Pembroke, sister Anne of Sarnia and his brother Randy (Sheila) of Sarnia, as well as several nieces and nephews.
An avid outdoorsman, Dale headed to Northern Ontario to pursue a career as a forestry technician. It was there where he met Renée, married and started their family. A few moves and a career change later, the family settled on their farm outside of Petrolia and he started his trapping business. He enjoyed his fishing and hunting trips over the years, especially the treks he made out west to hunt with his son. Dale was the best Papa the grandkids could ask for. He was always up for chats, and loved sharing stories about all his outdoor adventures.
He will be sorely missed by his coffee shop crew, and fondly remembered by many as The Nuisance Nabber.
The family would like to thank Dr. Maddison and Dr. Kim as well as the team of nurses at Bluewater Health for their love, attention and kindness during his brief illness.
Cremation will take place and a celebration of Dale’s life will be held at a later date. Charitable gifts can be made in Dale’s memory to the Canadian Cancer Society.
The arrangements have been entrusted to the D. J. Robb Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 102 N. Victoria St, Sarnia, ON, N7T 5W9. Memories, photographs or messages of condolence may be shared through www.djrobb.on.ca
