Charles Allan Cole passed peacefully at Bluewater Health in Sarnia on December 18, 2024 at the age of 83. Born in Talara, Peru, Allan spent the remainder of his life in Sarnia. Allan is survived by his wife Betty (nee Moore) of 57 years and their 3 children, Doug (Michelle), Julie (Eric) of Sarnia and Eric of Toronto, 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
The oldest of 8 children, Allan was predeceased by sister Marilyn (2012), and brothers Bob (2019) and Jim (2020). He is survived by siblings Barb of Essex, Ted(Gayle) of Tiny, Vivian (Mike) of Chillicothe, OH, Virginia of Forest.
Beginning his career as a teacher and then Vice Principle at Rosedale Public School, Allan worked at numerous schools within Lambton County before finishing his career as a Superintendent.
Allan and family travelled extensively over the years throughout Canada and the US. In later years Allan and Betty spent part of each winter in Arizona.
A lifelong lover of music, Allan sang in a community choir for 25 years and later volunteered with the Lambton Youth Choir. He played the piano throughout his life and after retiring he continued visiting schools and nursing homes to perform for students and residents.
Allan loved to swim and was a longtime member of the YMCA. He volunteered with the YMCA’s Celebration of Youth program for many years.
Funeral service and reception will be held at D.J. Robb Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 102 Victoria Street North, Sarnia on Monday December 30th at 1:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Sarnia YMCA https://www.ymcaswo.ca/locations/sarnia-lambton-ymca-jerry-mccaw-family-centre or the Lambton Youth Choir https://www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/73699 (LYC donations can be made through the Petrolia Community Fund with a note to direct donation to the Lambton Youth Choir).
