Cecilia ‘Ceil’ Elizabeth Chate

June 16, 1933 – July 24, 2022

With heavy hearts we share the peaceful passing of Ceil Chate, 89, at Bluewater Health in Sarnia. Predeceased by the love of her life, Dick Chate and her sister Helen Bateman, she leaves son Scott, daughter Stephanie, son-in-law Ian, and adored granddaughters Devon and Jordan to carry on her legacy of kindness and grace.

Having worked most of her life at Imperial Oil/Esso Chemical, she left her distinguished career to spend her retirement years travelling, enjoying her home with family and friends, and doting on her grandchildren. Moving on from her beloved Rutherglen Close, she found a community and home at Fairwinds Retirement Lodge, where she enjoyed a wide social circle. Always a card game enthusiast, Ceil reignited her passion for bridge and euchre while there. She was also known as a wicked scrabble player!

With love and great appreciation we’d like to thank Carol & Marcel Blais, Lee McKinley, Carol Peters, Don and Dave Bateman and Bev Clarke for always being there for Ceil when we could not.
