Catherine Kay Hemstreet

HEMSTREET, Catherine (Kay) Theresa (nee Shortt) - Peacefully at Sumac Lodge on Thursday, July 7, 2016, at the age of 86. She was the loving wife of the late Bert Hemstreet and loving mother of the late John Hemstreet. Catherine is survived by her children: Carol Ann Beatty and Mary Chris Hussar (Rusty). Loving Grandmother of: Rodney and Randy Beatty, James Hemstreet, Jayson (Lindsay Bechard), Dylan and Joseph Hussar. She was the great grandmother of Randi Katherine, Riley, Paizley, Jase, Easton and Abigail and dear sister-in-law of Jean Hemstreet. Catherine is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews and Rick Beatty (Cindy McClung). Catherine was predeceased by her sister Marion Law and brothers Bill Shortt (June), Murray Shortt (Cecilia), Pat Shortt (Doreen) and special friend Joseph Mitchell.  Catherine will be truly missed by many dear friends including Hilda Klages and Marnie Tapp. Catherine was a praying member of the Sisters of St. Joseph (Soul Seekers Group). Kay was born in Point Edward and was a longtime Sarnia resident and was employed by Hilda’s Art Gallery for over 23 years. A memorial mass will be held at St. Benedict’s Roman Catholic Church on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at 11:00 am. A private family interment will held at a later date at Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery.
