Catharine Smith

SMITH, Catharine Marian, age 85, peacefully passed away in Sarnia on August 17, 2013 after a short illness. She was born July 14, 1928 in Sarnia, Ontario to the late Norman and Margaret Scott. Catharine was a graduate of Sarnia Collegiate Institute and Technical School. She also earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Western Ontario as well as a Master of Arts Degree from the University of Michigan. In 2012, Catharine, and her husband Dr. S. Davis Smith, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Catharine was preceded in death by her first-born son, Scott (1990). She is survived by her husband, sons: Grant Smith of Port Huron, Michigan; Price (Kimberly) Smith of Athens, Ohio; and a daughter Sally Smith and husband Bret Martin of Campbell, California. She is also survived by three grandchildren; Charles and MacKay Martin and Devin Smith. Catharine is also survived by her brother, Ross (Joan) Scott of San Jose, California. Catharine was a member of the IODE, the University Women's Club and assisted with Canadian Red Cross Meals for Wheels. She was a long-term member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, Sarnia. Catharine was an avid reader and loved traveling worldwide with her husband. She also enjoyed entertaining her family and friends as well as playing the piano at her beloved, longtime home on Lake Huron. A memorial service will be held at 12:30 p.m., Sunday, August 25th, 2013 at the D.J. ROBB FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 102 Victoria St., N., Sarnia, Ontario. The Rev.
