It is with saddened hearts the family of Bonnita (Bonnie) Timms announces her peaceful passing at Vision Nursing Home, Sarnia, Ontario after a 6 year battle with dementia at the age of 82.Bonnie was the loving wife of the late Robert (Bob) Timms (2007).Caring mother to Scott (Deb) and Dean (Jeanne). Grandmother to Deana, Carly, Madison (Jesse), Kieran and great grandmother to Jaxon. Bonnie is survived by her loving sister Dianne (the late Paul) Reeves, and Robin (Ray) DiMuzio, their children Michelle (Mike) Richardson and Mike Reeves; Tim (Ophelia) DiMuzio, Steve (Kelly) DiMuzio and Teresa (Dave) Avampato. Survived by brother in law Ray (Marlene) Timms and several great nieces, nephews and cousins. Pre deceased by parents Vincent and Margaret Guertin.
Bonnie was born and raised in Sarnia and attended SCITS High School. She married Bob on October 21, 1960 and shortly thereafter became a young mom to 2 sons. She was a very loving and caring wife and mother always putting family and friends first.
She worked many office jobs within the finance industry and eventually became the Southwestern Ontario Rep for Canada Savings Bonds. It was a job that suited her well as it entailed travelling to many different cities and businesses and meeting and talking to people.
Bonnie loved travelling and camping as well as baking and reading. She was ever the hostess for numerous dinner parties and happy hours. She always made sure all her family and close friends received yearly birthday and Christmas cards. As a woman of great faith she believed in the good in everyone and was always willing to forgive and help those in need.
After retirement Bonnie and Bob loved to spend their summers at Pine Lake, near Bayfield and winters in Sebring, Florida. Eventually Bonnie became Bob’s caretaker when he became ill and she took on the responsibility of driving to Florida for the winters. After Bob passed away she continued to winter in Florida until her health would not allow.
Even though dementia took away her independence she still had a smile and a laugh until the end. She will be greatly missed.
Special thanks to Vision Nursing Home Staff – Ontario Lane for caring for Bonnie for the last 3 years. Your hard work and dedication to the residents does not go unnoticed. Also, thanks to the Sarnia Firefighters Association who were a tremendous support to Bonnie after Bob’s passing.
