Bob Purves

PURVES, F. ROBERT – At Bluewater health on Wednesday, May 30th, 2018, Frederick “Bob” Purves, age 76 of Sarnia quietly passed away. For 53 years he was the dear husband of Carolyn (Brodie) and loving father to sons Stephen and Jim.  Bob will be lovingly remembered by his daughter in laws Vanessa Green and Suzanne Purves (Flick). He was the cherished grandfather to Erin Purves, Ryan Purves, Carter Purves, Lauren Purves and Avery Purves. He is survived by his sister Blanche Quinn and predeceased by brother-in law Edwin Quinn. He will be remembered by nephews Robert and Raymond Quinn and niece Diane Bayley (Quinn). Bob began his career at St. Clair High School teaching History and Math. He went on to become the Vice Principal/Principal at Alexander Mackenzie, Petrolia and Forest High Schools. He retired from teaching in 1998 and spent winters in his retirement years in Florida. Bob was a longtime active member of the Sarnia Golf & Curling Club in the summer and Big Cypress Golf Club in Lakeland in the winter. Bob and Carolyn loved to golf and get together with friends in both their Sarnia home and Lakeland cottage. Bob was always a big sports fan, and was involved in his kids sport for many years. He graduated from Michigan State in 1964 and always followed the Spartan teams. He regularly watched and supported high school teams where he was teaching and the local sports teams in both Sarnia and Florida. In his retirement years he enjoyed following his grandchildren’s sports. Memorial services will be held at the D. J. Robb Funeral Home & Cremation Centre (102 N. Victoria St., N7T 5W9, Sarnia) on Tuesday, June 5th, 2018 at noon. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 5th, from 10:00 am to noon.
