Betsy Koning

KONING, BETSY – At St. Joseph’s Hospice on Friday, November 27, 2015, Betsy (Liewes) Koning, age 85 of Sarnia passed away peacefully. She was the loving wife of the late Theodoricus (Rick) Koning (1997) and dear mother of and Jon Koning (Kathy) and Diana Koning of Sarnia, grandmother of Irene and Leo, great-grandmother of Brody and Cora, sister of Antje, Sjoukje, Siena, Froukje and Henk, and several nieces and nephews also survive in the Netherlands. She was predeceased by her sister Jantje and brothers Oente, Klaas and Geert. Betsy was born in the Netherlands and has been a Sarnia resident since 1955. She had been a volunteer at Marshall Gowland Manor and attended Paterson Memorial Church for many years. Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held at the D. J. Robb Funeral Home & Cremation Centre (102 N. Victoria St., Sarnia) on Tuesday, December 8th at 11:00 am. Friends may visit at the funeral home prior to the service beginning at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts made through donations to the Sarnia Humane Society, St. Joseph’s Hospice or charity of choice would be appreciated by the family.
