Barrie Edwin Martin

February 3, 1941 — November 20, 2021

Barrie has gone to be with his parents Len and Bert Martin, along with his older brother Bud and younger sister Linda (Martin) Weston.

Barrie spent his youth on Kathleen Avenue, Sarnia and attended Johnson Memorial School. He spent his first year of high school at Central Collegiate but the next 5 years of his education was at S.C. I .T.S. Barrie made many friends at S.C.I.T.S. and met his best friend Shirley Kirk and they were married May 16, 1964. As a result of this marriage came two great children, Todd Martin and Tali (John) McGovern. From those children, they gave Barrie his four joyful grand-daughters – Taija and McKenna McGovern and Michaela & Meghan Martin. They put a smile on his face every day.

Barrie spent 38 years as a Lab Technician at Polymer before retiring to spending winters in Florida which he enjoyed immensely. He also frequented the odd Casino. His travels took him and Shirley to England, Vegas, Hawaii and Scotland. He loved cruising in his ’52 Chev and ’68 Ford. Barrie was a faithful member of St. Paul’s United Church and could always be found in the kitchen or eating butter tarts.

Barrie could also be found helping Shirley in some event she was planning somewhere. Barrie would just follow Shirley’s requests.

Barrie leaves behind his sister, Diane (Vic) Gander, and sister – in-law’s; Carol Martin, and Nancy Carpenter and brother-in-law’s Rob (Sharon) Kirk and Ralph Weston. As well as many long-life time friends and several nieces and nephews.

Anyone of Barrie’s friend who really know him well know “His Ass is finally a Star”
