Suddenly, on August 27, 2009, at the age of 75, Barbara passed away in her sleep. It goes without saying, that everyone who knew her loved her. Barbara greeted everyone with a happy smile and her infectious laugh endeared her instantly. For many years she was employed at RBC Dominion Securities while raising three children. In later life she enjoyed her time at her family cottage. Her greatest pleasure was spending time there with friends and family, especially with her six grandchildren whom she loved with all her might. Barbara dearly loved her computer and would Skype her Moscow and London families on a regular basis. She applied herself voraciously to any good novel and spent countless hours knitting the tiniest of booties for London's NICU babies. Taking great pride in her City of Sarnia, she was well known to us as Mike Weir's biggest fan. Our Dear will be missed by all who knew her and I will love you forever, your loving husband Doug. Barbara was happily married to her husband Doug for 52 years. She is also survived by her children Stephen Kirton and his wife Karen of Moscow, Kathi Christiansen and her husband Frank of London and Jeff Kirton and his wife Amy of London. Also by her six grandchildren: Jessica and Meggie Christiansen of London, and Mark, Derek, Stuart and Julia Kirton of Bridgenorth. She will be remembered always by her many friends, among them Jackie and Bill Dunlop of Sarnia and Judy Congdon of London. Barbara is predeceased by her father Stan Edwards of Watford (1991) and her mother Merle Edwards (nee Davidson) (1987). Funeral services will be held from the D.J. ROBB FUNERAL HOME (102 N.Victoria St. N., Sarnia, ON., N7T 5W9) on Monday, August 31st at 1:00 pm. Cremation will follow. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Sunday between the hours of 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or Canadian Diabetes Association (cheques only please) would be appreciated. Messages of condolence may be sent to the family through djrobbfh@ebtech.net
