At Bluewater Health on May 20, 2011, Arthur Castle passed away in his 66th year. He is survived by his niece Kirsti (Ron) Nutt of London, nephew Brett (Laurie) Vainio of Calgary, great-nieces and nephews Shawn and Kelsey Nutt, Shea and Chelsea Vainio. Predeceased by his sister Carol Castle Vainio and brother-in-law, Raine Vainio. Arthur joined the army at 16 years of age training first as a medic and later as mechanic. He earned the Special Service medal for his service toward NATO and the Canadian Decoration for 22 years of service and was able to retire at age 46. He was a Red Cross Volunteer in Toronto and a long time blood donor, until poor health forced him to stop, with over 150 donations. He enjoyed eating out, spending mealtimes at the Leaky Tank and the White Knight, flirting with waitresses, telling jokes and meeting with friends. Cremation has taken place and at Arthur's request no funeral will be held. Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial at The Dante Club, 1330 London Rd, Sarnia, Friday May 27, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. In order to recognize Arthur's love of reading those wishing to make a donation are asked to consider the Organization for Literacy Sarnia-Lambton (cheques only please). Messages of condolence may be sent through djrobbfh@ebtech.net
