Archibald "Archie" Aitken

AITKEN, ARCHIBALD CAMPBELL - Passed away on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at age 88 after a very fulfilling life. Loving husband for 64 years to his wife Margaret. Dear father to Irene (Wayne) Harris, and Ron Aitken. Loving grandfather of Grant (Sandie) Harris, Lesley (Paul) Kuipers, Tracy (Keith) Bovingdon, Daniel (Anik) Hill and Mathew Hill. Cherished great grandfather of Rachelle, Maddison, Ryley, Ashlyn, Keira, Jaeden and Samantha. Sadly missed by many friends and relatives here, in Scotland and England. Archie retired from Dupont in 1985. He was a skilled Millwright for 45 years, including service with the Royal Merchant Navy during the Second World War. In retirement, Archie volunteered countless hours entertaining children in hospitals and various events as Shrine Clown with his good friend Lionell. Archie was a member of the Sarnia Masonic Lodge (Scottish Rite) and the Sarnia Lambton Shrine Club and St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church. The family extends a special thank you to nurses Belinda, Christine and their team at the Chronic Care Ward of Bluewater Health, for their compassionate care. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Archie's life will be held on Saturday, November 7th at 1:00 pm at the D.J. ROBB FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION CENTRE (followed by a lunch at the Masonic Hall, 245 Essex St., Sarnia). In lieu of flowers, sympathy donations may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, c/o Lambton Shrine Club, 245 Essex St., Sarnia, ON N7T 4S3, Attn: Donations.
