Andrew (Andy) Chalmers – Our Dad – Our Hero – passed away peacefully at the age of 87 on September 21, 2024.
Dad was the epitome of what a Husband, Brother, Dad and Grandpa should be – we saw it every day – in the way he treated everyone with dignity and respect. We, as his daughters, saw how awesome he was and settled for nothing less with our spouses. He was proud to call Mike and Mark his ‘sons’ especially and thankfully since they shared his love of sports! Everyone who knew Dad knew he loved his sports and yes, was a die-hard Leafs fan but his real love was his family. He loved us with all his heart and soul and was loved equally back. Dad also loved spending time at the Air Force Club (403 Wing) were he held numerous positions – proudest being voted Vice President / Acting President. As well, he was always willing to lend a hand with meal preparation and cleanup for any banquets that were held at the Club. When he wasn’t working in the kitchen, you could find him playing cribbage and euchre with his friends – a game with a round of beers has probably already started with his two best friends Bob and Harold.
We will miss his gentle, kind and compassionate nature but mostly we will miss his amazing sense of humor which never waivered even after his stroke.
Loving husband of 54 years to the late Jeanette Chalmers (2016), supportive brother to Jean Machan, exceptional Dad and Grandpa to Penny, Mike, Michael (Nikki) and Skylea (Kevin), Wendy, Mark, Amanda and Alyson.
Thank you to all the Staff at Trillium Villa Nursing Home for all the years of caring for our Dad – greatly appreciated.
What we have lost Heaven has gained.
We love you Dad.
