Our family has lost a special Husband, Father, Uncle, Grandpa, Great Grandpa and Friend on Saturday, October 5, 2013, when ALVIN (Gus) HENRY PARK, age 85 of Sarnia passed away at Bluewater Health Sarnia. Dear husband of Catherine Park (nee Hurley) of 64 years. Much loved father of Dianne (Sid) Orfus, Lynn (Rick) Mac Millan, Paul (Christine) Park, John (Leslie) Park, Robert Park and Patrick (Michele) Park. Cherished Grandfather of Justin (Tina), Melanie, Sarah, Erin (Christian), Marissa (Mike), Christopher, Lindsay (Nick), Lauren, Jonathan, Braden, Hannah and Andrew and Great Granddaughters Madelyn and Carson and also countless nieces and nephews. Also survived by his in-laws Rev. Jack Hurley, Mary Jane O' Reilly, Terry Hobin, Margaret and Ken Greenaway, Nora and Al Mc Donell and Sheila (Don) Hambleton with whom he enjoyed many family celebrations. Predeceased by his parents Ruth and Wilfred Park and his mother and father in-law Dorothy and Tom Hurley, brothers Donald (Jean) and Robert and brother in - law Fred (Mary) Hurley, Michael O'Reilly and sister in - law Dorothy Hobin. Alvin was a dedicated and loyal employee at Imperial Oil for 42 years. When he wasn't working he enjoyed gardening, weather recording, coin collecting, World War history, and cheering for his Detroit Tigers and Red Wings. The family wishes to thank the staff on the 4th floor at Bluewater Health for their compassionate care. Alvin will miss his special friends and staff at Fairwinds Lodge. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Jack Hurley at St. Benedict's Roman Catholic Church (1011 Oak Street) on Wednesday, October 9th, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. Interment Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery. The family will receive friends and family at the funeral home on Tuesday, October 8, 2013, between the hours of 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. where prayers will be offered at 8:00 p.m.with Father Jack Hurley.
