Aleida Pieters-Lensen

PIETERS-LENSEN, ALEIDA – Very peacefully at Bluewater Health, Aleida passed away on May 11, 2018 in her 90th year.  Aleida is now reunited with her loving husband Henricus (1993).  Dear mother to Henry (Carol), John (Cynthia), Johanna (Eric) and Ron (Karen). She will be missed by her 15 grandchildren, their spouses and her 15 great grandchildren.  Aleida is survived by her brother Yuur, sister Thea and many nieces and nephews in the Netherlands. Aleida and her family immigrated to Canada in 1953.  Although she was proud of her Canadian citizenship, she never forgot her Dutch heritage, and would regularly travel back to Holland to visit family and friends.  Leida was an accomplished seamstress, cook and loved to knit.  She took great pleasure in sharing her creations with family and friends.  She had an amazing sense of style and was an avid shopper.  She will be remembered for her adventurous heart, her youthful and ‘spunky’ spirit which allowed her to live independently until the final few months of her life. The family would like to express sincere gratitude to Dr Kim and the nurses and support workers on the Palliative Care Team for their attentive and compassionate care prior to and during Leida’s hospital stay. Thank you to Pastor Dave and her Church Community who welcomed her with open arms and continued to visit her regularly.    Celebration of life will be held at First Christian Reformed Church (1105 Exmouth St. Sarnia N7S 1W5) on Saturday May 26, 2018 at 11:00 am. Memorial donations in memory of Aleida to the Palliative Care Department at Bluewater Health and St. Joseph’s Hospice Sarnia would be appreciated by the family.
